PHILOSOPHY

“From bows to toes” in the Kids First Cheer and Dance program, we

  • Offer a positive and age-appropriate environment for learning cheerleading-related skills.
  • Teach progressions and proper technique to ensure safety.
  • Help our athletes set realistic goals. Success does not come without careful planning & hard work.

Kids First Cheer and Dance prides itself on maintaining a wholesome, value-centered, educational approach to cheer. Our focus remains on safety, teamwork, relationships, and fitness.

  • Full Season teams form in May (Season runs June-May)
  • Half-season teams form in September (Season runs October - May)

QUEEN CITY STORM

CHEER SHOWCASE TEAMS

Interested in being on a showteam? Or love to perform in front of an audience?  Storm Show Teams are a great place to start. Learn a cheer or hip hop routine in 8 weeks then perform it on week 8!

Mondays 5:00-6:00 pm

CHEERY O'S STAFF

Our enthusiastic, experienced teachers live for cheerleading and coaching! With backgrounds in gymnastics, competitive cheer and collegiate cheer, they know what it takes to make a team and have the passion and drive to get your athlete there!


Heather Zumberge-Powalski

Department Leader
HEATHER ZUMBERGE

Heather Zumberge has been the Department Leader and the Competitive Cheer Program Director at Kids First since Aug. 2005.


Born and raised in rural Celina, Ohio, Heather cheered for her hometown team, the Celina Bulldogs, from 4th grade until she graduated from high school. From there, Heather attended The University of Toledo, where she cheered for three years. She graduated with a major in Sales and Marketing.


After graduating from high school, Heather spent her summers working for the Universal Cheerleaders Association. (UCA is a cheerleading company that teaches cheers, chants, stunts, and dances to Elementary through college cheerleaders.)


The minute Heather stepped into the gym and met the girls, she knew that moving to Cincinnati to pursue a position at Kids First was meant to be.


In addition to her role as Cheer Department Leader, Heather is also the Cheer class instructor, Cheer team coach, and can be found on the Tumble Bees floor teaching preschool gymnastics! You can also find Heather teaching on the Tumble Bees floor. She feels blessed to be able to work with kids.
