Ben Wissel

Ben Wissel is a dedicated gymnastics coach and educator with a career spanning nearly two decades in youth development. He began his journey at Kids First Sports Center in 2005, initially working in the aquatics department before transitioning to gymnastics coaching at the encouragement of leadership. During his early tenure at Kids First, Ben contributed to the growth of the Tumble Bees program and developed foundational coaching skills that would shape his career.

After 18 months, Ben left Kids First to pursue new opportunities, earning a degree in elementary education, getting married, and starting a family. His passion for gymnastics was rekindled when his daughter expressed interest in the sport. This led Ben to coach at the YMCA, where he quickly advanced to the role of Assistant Director. At the Y, he collaborated with colleagues to revamp the preschool gymnastics curriculum and launch a progressive Ninja program with a competitive team.

Ben reconnected with Kids First, eager to return to a supportive and athlete-centered environment. He has now completed his seventh season coaching gymnastics, where he is known for fostering inclusivity and supporting athletes at every level-from first-time participants to those representing Team Ohio at the Region 5 Championships.
Ben is passionate about creating a positive, accommodating environment for all athletes and takes pride in being part of a program that nurtures growth and development of athletes into happy, healthy, responsible adults.
